Top Central Valley Lawmakers Endorse Councilmember Annalisa Perea for State Assembly

Senator Anna Caballero and Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria join a growing coalition backing Perea’s candidacy.

FRESNO, CA – With her campaign for State Assembly District 31 now in full swing, Fresno City Councilmember Annalisa Perea has secured the support of two of the legislature’s  most respected leaders: Senator Anna Caballero and Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria.

These endorsements add to a growing coalition backing Perea, following a campaign launch that featured over $300,000 raised and strong early support from labor organizations, education leaders, and local elected officials from across Fresno County.

“I’m incredibly honored to have the support of leaders like Senator Caballero and Assemblymember Soria,” said Councilmember Annalisa Perea. “They’ve been strong, pragmatic leaders who have been focused on delivering results, and I’m so proud they trust me to serve Fresno County in the Assembly.”

Senator Anna Caballero praised Councilmember Perea as “a smart, collaborative leader who gets things done,” adding: “Annalisa Perea has the right experience and temperament to represent the Central Valley in the Assembly, and I’m proud to support her.”

Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria added, “From day one, Annalisa has been focused on solutions for the Central Valley. She has a proven ability to bring opposing sides together to deliver real results, and she will bring that same effective leadership to Sacramento.”

Councilmember Perea is running to succeed Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula, who is termed out in 2026. The district is entirely within Fresno County and includes a broad coalition of working-class communities and agricultural regions.

Perea, who currently serves on the Fresno City Council and was elected Council President in 2024, has built a reputation for listening to her constituents and delivering real results. As a Councilmember, she helped cut violent crime in half through community policing, negotiated a tax-sharing agreement that increased city revenues without raising taxes, and delivered new housing solutions to tackle Fresno’s affordability crisis.

A lifelong Central Valley resident, Perea is a certified city planner and former community college trustee. Her work in public service and land use planning has helped create hundreds of jobs and thousands of homes across the Valley.
