PORAC and Local Police Associations Endorse Annalisa Perea for State Assembly

California’s top public safety organization is backing Perea’s candidacy, highlighting her proven leadership and commitment to safer neighborhoods.

FRESNO, CA – The Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) has announced its endorsement of Fresno City Councilmember Annalisa Perea for State Assembly District 31, joined by the Fresno Police Officers Association, Selma Police Officers Association, and Sanger Police Officers Association.

As the state’s largest public safety organization, PORAC represents more than 80,000 public safety members and over 950 associations. Their support, along with endorsements from local police officers, underscores the strong trust law enforcement leaders place in Perea’s record of collaboration, accountability, and dedication to community safety. The Fresno Police Officers’ Association, the Sanger Police Officers’ Association and the Selma Police Officers’ Association have all made early endorsements of Perea.

“Annalisa Perea has shown that she values the service and sacrifices made by California’s peace officers, both past and present,” said Eric Schmidt, Executive Communications Director and Director-at-Large for PORAC. “She brings the kind of leadership, accountability, and collaborative spirit that we need more of in Sacramento. Her willingness to communicate and engage in complex issues are just some of the reasons we’re proud to support her.”

“These public safety professionals put everything on the line to protect our communities, and I’m incredibly honored to have their trust,” said Councilmember Annalisa Perea. “As a Councilmember and lifelong Central Valley resident, I will always stand up for public safety, for working families, and for a future where every community feels secure and heard.”

Perea currently serves on the Fresno City Council, where she has earned recognition for her hands-on approach and ability to bring people together. As Council President in 2024, she prioritized public safety, expanded access to affordable housing, and helped negotiate a historic budget agreement that boosted funding for essential services without raising taxes.

The granddaughter of a cannery worker, Perea’s campaign continues to connect with working families who want a representative that understands the region and will fight for its future.
