Educators highlight Perea’s record of leadership, equity, and support for public education across the Central Valley.
FRESNO, CA — The California Teachers Association (CTA) has officially recommended Fresno City Councilmember Annalisa Perea for State Assembly District 31.
The California Teachers Association represents more than 300,000 educators, counselors, and education support professionals across California, and is widely regarded as one of the state’s most influential voices for quality public education. CTA’s recommendation reflects Perea’s support for policies that strengthen schools, empower teachers, and expand access to opportunity for every child. The California Teachers Association, founded in 1863, advocates for the rights of students and educators and works to ensure that every public school in California is a place where all students can learn, grow, and succeed.
Councilmember Annalisa Perea expressed deep appreciation for the recommendation, noting the vital role educators play in shaping the Valley’s future. “As the daughter of a retired public school teacher, I’ve seen firsthand the dedication and sacrifice that educators bring to their classrooms every single day,” said Perea. “I’m honored to receive this recommendation from the California Teachers Association, and I’ll continue working to ensure every student no matter their ZIP code has access to a high-quality education and the resources they need to thrive.”
Annalisa Perea currently serves on the Fresno City Council, where she has led efforts to expand affordable housing, invest in public safety, and strengthen workforce development programs. A certified city planner and former community college trustee, Perea carries forward a lifelong belief in education, equity, and opportunity for every family.
