Union representing skilled tradespeople across California backs Perea’s fight for jobs, training, and opportunity in the Valley
FRESNO, CA — Sheet Metal Workers Local 104, which represents thousands of skilled workers across California, has officially endorsed Fresno City Councilmember Annalisa Perea for State Assembly District 31. The endorsement adds to Perea’s growing base of support from organized labor and highlights her commitment to investing in working families and workforce development across the Central Valley.
“We’re proud to endorse Annalisa Perea for Assembly because she understands the importance of blue collar workers and has a long history of fighting for working people,” said Vince Sugrue, State Legislative Director, Local 104. “Workers of all kinds can depend on Annalisa to stand and deliver for them in the Capitol. She’ll be a strong advocate for the middle class.”
“Sheet Metal Workers are essential to building and maintaining safe, thriving communities, and I’m honored to have Local 104 standing with our campaign,” said Councilmember Annalisa Perea. “Their members bring skill, pride, and precision to everything they do. I will always stand up for good-paying union jobs, strong apprenticeship programs, and the workers who keep our region moving.”
Local 104 joins a powerful coalition of labor unions backing Perea, including Iron Workers Local 155 and Operating Engineers Local 3. Together, these endorsements reflect the strong trust Perea has earned from frontline workers in construction, infrastructure, and the skilled trades.
A third-generation Central Valley native and lifelong Fresnan, Perea is the daughter and granddaughter of Mexican American farmworkers and railroad workers. Perea holds a degree in City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and built her professional career as an urban planner focused on developing safe, walkable, and affordable communities. She carried that expertise into public service, first as a Trustee for the State Center Community College District, and now on the Fresno City Council, where she was unanimously selected by her colleagues to serve as Council Vice President and Council President during her first two years.
Perea is running for State Assembly to continue fighting for working families, union jobs, strong public infrastructure, affordable housing, and economic opportunity for every community in the Central Valley.
