Operating Engineers Local 3 Endorses Annalisa Perea for State Assembly

Local 3 joins growing coalition supporting Perea’s commitment to infrastructure, good jobs, and stronger communities

FRESNO, CA — Operating Engineers Local 3, one of the largest construction trades unions in North America, has officially endorsed Fresno City Councilmember Annalisa Perea in her campaign for State Assembly District 31, adding critical labor support to her growing coalition of backers across the Central Valley.

Perea emphasized the significance of the endorsement for her campaign, “This endorsement from Local 3 is deeply meaningful. The hard-working men and women are the backbone and spirit of the Central Valley. Their work keeps our communities moving, building the roads, bridges, and infrastructure that sustain everyday life. I am honored to have their support and look forward to working alongside them to create safe, thriving neighborhoods, good-paying jobs, and opportunities for every family in our region.”

A third-generation Central Valley native and lifelong Fresnan, Perea is the daughter and granddaughter of Mexican American farmworkers and railroad workers. Her grandfather came to the United States through the Bracero Program and worked for more than 30 years on the railroad, while her grandmother worked at the Selma Cannery. Those experiences instilled in her a deep appreciation for hard work, family, and public service.

Perea holds a degree in City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and has built her career as an urban planner focused on creating safe, walkable, and affordable communities. She has carried that expertise into public service, first as a Trustee for the State Center Community College District and now as a member of the Fresno City Council, where she was unanimously selected by her colleagues to serve as Council Vice President and Council President during her first two years.

Perea’s leadership is rooted in community engagement. She holds regular town halls, goes door-to-door with her team to ensure residents are heard, and hosts events from tamale giveaways to school supply drives all with a focus on ensuring every resident knows their voice matters.

Perea is running for State Assembly to continue fighting for working families, safe neighborhoods, affordable housing, and economic opportunity across the Central Valley.
