SEIU California Endorses Annalisa Perea for Assembly

Fresno City Councilmember earns support of one of California’s leading labor organizations

FRESNO, CA — SEIU California has endorsed Fresno City Councilmember Annalisa Perea for Assembly District 31. The endorsement from one of the state’s leading labor organizations underscores Perea’s long-standing commitment to working families and her readiness to deliver results for the Central Valley in the State Assembly.

SEIU California leaders cited Perea’s consistent advocacy for workers and families as the reason for their support. “SEIU California is proud to endorse Annalisa Perea for Assembly District 31. Annalisa has long been a trusted progressive voice for working families and a consistent champion for frontline workers, caregivers, and public servants. As a strong advocate for families in the Central Valley, she understands the real challenges our communities face and has shown she’s ready to deliver solutions, from stronger wage protections to better support for the essential workers who keep California running. We know she will continue fighting for fair wages, safer workplaces, and the dignity every worker deserves,” said Riko Mendez, Chief Elected Officer of SEIU Local 521 and Executive Board Member of SEIU California.

Councilmember Perea expressed gratitude for the endorsement and emphasized the strength of SEIU California and its commitment to standing up for workers. “I am honored to earn the support of the working people who make up SEIU California. These workers provide the essential services that keep our communities healthy, safe, cared for and thriving. If voters in Assembly District 31 send me to the Legislature, I will continue working in partnership with them to support and strengthen the important work they are already doing for workers and families across our state.”

Annalisa Perea currently serves on the Fresno City Council and was elected Council President in 2024. A lifelong Central Valley resident and certified city planner, Perea’s work has focused on delivering results for working families, supporting frontline workers, and building a more equitable future for the Valley.
