LGBTQ+ leaders back Perea’s campaign, highlighting her advocacy, lived experience, and commitment to inclusive policy.
FRESNO, CA – The California Legislative LGBTQ Caucus has officially endorsed Fresno City Councilmember Annalisa Perea for State Assembly District 31. The endorsement recognizes Perea’s longstanding commitment to LGBTQ+ visibility, equity, and safety, and adds to a growing coalition of advocates and community leaders supporting her campaign to bring inclusive, community-centered leadership to Sacramento.
“As a gay woman, I’ve always understood how important visibility, representation, and safety are for LGBTQ+ people, especially in spaces where decisions are made about our lives,” said Councilmember Annalisa Perea. “My personal experience has deeply shaped my approach to public service. I know what it feels like to navigate systems that weren’t built with us in mind, and that perspective informs every policy I champion. Throughout my time in city government, I’ve worked to expand safe spaces for LGBTQ+ youth, celebrate our diversity through Pride events, and strengthen city protections against discrimination in housing, employment, and public services. I’m honored to have the support of the LGBTQ Caucus as we continue this work together.”
Perea, a lifelong Central Valley resident, has served on the Fresno City Council and was unanimously elected Council President in 2024. Her work includes expanding affordable housing, advocating for equity in city contracting, and funding programs that support mental health, domestic violence prevention, and inclusive services for marginalized communities.
