California's largest fire department throws its weight behind Perea for AD-31

CAL FIRE Local 2881, which represents 8,500 current and retired firefighters, has endorsed Annalisa Perea in her race for Assembly District 31.

CAL FIRE Local 2881 is the largest fire department in California and the third largest in the United States. More than 600,000 times in 2025, the people of CAL FIRE Local 2881 answered the call, battling wildfires, responding to disasters, and protecting communities across 30 California counties.

Their endorsement reflects confidence in Perea's record of investing in public safety and her commitment to fighting for the resources emergency responders need to protect Central Valley families.

"The firefighters of CAL FIRE are heroes. They run toward danger so our families don't have to, and they need voices in the State Assembly who will fight to make sure they have the funding, equipment, and access they need to do the important work they do. I am committed to being one of those voices," said Perea.

Perea has built a broad coalition, drawing support from labor, women's organizations, and community leaders alike, including the California Federation of Labor Unions, the National Women's Political Caucus, the Fresno County Democratic Women's Club, and the Central Valley Latino Dems Club.

A certified city planner and former State Center Community College District trustee, Perea has spent her tenure on the Fresno City Council expanding affordable housing, strengthening public safety, and investing in workforce development. She carries forward a lifelong belief that strong communities are built on equity, opportunity, and the people who show up to serve them.
